What battery charger does an electric stacker use?

Most electric stackers in India run on a 24V lead-acid battery and need a 24V charger rated at least 10A–20A. A 12V charger will not work and will permanently damage the battery. The SAMCO FCBC charger covers stackers, forklifts and pallet jacks — variable 0–20A knob, Boost/Float switch.

How long does it take to charge a stacker battery?

Formula: Time (hrs) = (Ah × Discharge%) ÷ (Amps × 0.85). Example: 100Ah battery at 80% discharge at 10A = 9.4 hours. At 15A, same battery charges in about 6.3 hours. Use the Charging Time Calculator above for your exact setup.

Can this charger be used for a forklift battery?

Yes. The SAMCO 24V 20A charger works with all 24V lead-acid stackers, forklifts, pallet jacks and floor scrubbers. Set the knob to 15–20A for large forklift batteries (150Ah–200Ah).

What is the difference between BOOST and FLOAT mode?

BOOST applies ~28–29V to fast-charge a discharged battery after a work shift. FLOAT holds the battery at 26–27V once it is fully charged — safe for overnight or weekend maintenance without risk of overcharging. Always start with BOOST and switch to FLOAT when the amp meter reads near zero.

What safety protections are built in?

Four protections: (1) Short circuit — cuts power instantly if terminals short; (2) Overload — limits current to the set amps; (3) Reverse polarity — prevents damage if clamps are accidentally swapped; (4) Thermal shutdown — stops the unit if it overheats. Together these make the charger safe for unattended overnight charging in warehouses.

Stacker battery not charging — charger meter reads 0A?

Set to BOOST at 10–15A. The higher voltage pushes past deep discharge resistance. If the meter still reads 0A after 20 minutes at maximum amps, the battery has dead cells — no charger can recover a failed cell. The battery needs replacement.

Battery getting hot during charging — what to do?

Reduce the knob by 3–5A immediately. Slightly warm is normal; hot to touch is not. It means the charge rate exceeds what the battery can safely absorb. Old or heavily cycled batteries may only accept 5–8A safely.
