What this 24 volt 30 amp digital battery charger does

The Samco 24V 30 Amp charger is a high-frequency SMPS charger with a variable current dial and a digital ammeter showing live charging current in amps. It is one of the highest-current 24V chargers in the Samco range. A 24V system is commonly two 12V lead-acid batteries connected in series, and this charger is intended for the 24V bank as a whole.

At a 10% reference rate, 30A corresponds to approximately a 300Ah battery bank. Actual charging current should always follow the battery manufacturer's specification, and the dial can be turned down for smaller banks.

Use cases — which 24V battery banks this 30A charger suits

Forklift & stacker battery charger

24V traction battery banks in warehouse forklifts, electric stackers and material-handling equipment, subject to the battery manufacturer's recommended charging current.

Truck & tipper battery charger 24V

Large 24V starter banks in trucks and tippers, recharged in the workshop between long-haul runs.

Bus fleet battery charger

School bus, tourist coach and commercial fleet 24V banks charged at the depot between duty cycles, with a visible current reading throughout.

24V Solar/Inverter Battery Charger

Large 24V solar storage banks topped up from grid power when the array alone has not replenished the bank.

DG set starter battery charger 24V

24V generator starter banks at factories, hospitals and housing societies, brought back up quickly after a standby run.

Telecom & industrial battery charger 24V

24V VRLA and SMF banks at tower sites, control panels and industrial installations during scheduled maintenance.

Use appropriately rated external protection where required by the installation. Charging time depends on the battery's initial state of charge, condition, recommended charging current and current taper.

How to charge a 24V bank with this charger

  1. Check the bank's specified charging current

Read the label or datasheet for the battery's specified charging current and charging voltage. For many lead-acid batteries around 10% of rated Ah capacity is sometimes used as a starting guideline, but the manufacturer's specified figure always takes priority.

  2. Confirm the bank is 24V

A 24V bank is commonly two 12V batteries wired in series, and both should be of matched type, capacity and condition. A single 12V battery, or 12V batteries wired in parallel, needs a 12V charger instead.

  3. Connect the clamps, then set the dial

With the charger switched off, connect the red clamp to the positive terminal and the black clamp to the negative terminal. Turn the dial down before powering up, then bring it to the figure from step 1.

  4. Power on and read the digital ammeter

Switch on at the mains and check that the ammeter shows current flowing. A deeply discharged bank will draw close to the dial setting; a partly charged one will draw less.

  5. Watch the taper and disconnect

As the bank approaches a charged state the current normally tapers down. Check the battery periodically while it is connected, follow the battery manufacturer's charging guidance to decide when charging is complete, and switch off at the mains before removing the clamps.

Charge in a ventilated space. Do not leave a battery on charge without checking on it periodically.

24 volt 30 amp digital battery charger — FAQ

Which batteries can I charge with this 24 volt 30 amp digital battery charger?

Compatible 24V lead-acid battery banks including tubular, flat-plate, SMF, VRLA, AGM and GEL types, when operated within the battery manufacturer's charging specifications. GEL batteries usually specify a lower charging voltage, so check the manufacturer's charging voltage before connecting one. A 24V bank is commonly two 12V batteries in series. It is a 24V charger and is not intended for a single 12V battery.

Can I use it on two 12V batteries connected in series?

Yes, where the two 12V batteries form a 24V bank of matched type, capacity and condition, and the battery manufacturer's charging requirements are followed. Charging mismatched or unequally aged batteries in series is not recommended.

What size 24V bank is 30A suited to?

At a 10% reference rate, 30A corresponds to approximately a 300Ah bank. Actual charging current should always follow the battery manufacturer's specification, and the variable dial can be set lower for smaller banks.

Can I use a 24V 30A charger on a 24V 150Ah battery?

The charger has a variable 0–30A output, so it can be set below 30A for smaller 24V banks. Set the charging current according to the battery manufacturer's specified charging current rather than automatically using the maximum 30A setting.

What does the digital ammeter show?

The ammeter shows live charging current in amps. As a battery approaches a charged state, charging current normally tapers down. A significant reduction in current can be one indication that charging is nearing completion — follow the battery manufacturer's charging guidance to confirm.

Do you deliver across India and what is the return policy?

Yes. Dispatched from Delhi, with delivery across India. There is a 6-month warranty against manufacturing defects and a 3-day return window for unopened products in original packaging, with return shipping paid by the customer.
