What is This Inverter Battery Charger?
The SAMCO 12V 20A FCBC inverter battery charger is a heavy duty, workshop-grade SMPS charger designed specifically for Indian conditions. It is the most versatile 12V charger in its class — one unit that works as a tubular inverter battery charger, car battery charger, truck battery charger, tractor battery charger and e-rickshaw battery charger, all in one.
Unlike basic automatic chargers that lock you into a fixed current, this charger gives you full manual control via a 0–20A variable knob. The FCBC switch lets you choose between Boost mode (fast charging) and Float mode (battery maintenance). A digital amp meter shows live charging current so you always know exactly what’s happening.
Key benefits for Indian users:
- Revives deeply discharged inverter batteries that automatic chargers reject
- 20A output fast-charges large tubular batteries quickly
- Float mode prevents overcharge during monsoon season and winter storage
- Works on all Indian grid voltages (170V–270V AC input)
- Trusted by battery shops, garages and mechanics across India

Technical Specifications – 12V 20A Battery Charger
Boost & Float Mode – When to Use Which
🚀 BOOST – Fast Charge Mode
Delivers high voltage (peak ~15V) to fast-charge any discharged 12V battery. Switch here first.
- Inverter battery went flat during power cut
- Car battery dead — car won’t start
- Truck battery drained after long parking
- Battery deeply discharged below 10V
🛡 FLOAT – Battery Maintainer Mode
Maintains safe 13.6–14.5V — no overcharge. Use once battery is full.
- Battery full — want to keep it topped up
- Vehicle parked for 2+ weeks
- Monsoon season — inverter on standby
- Winter storage of seasonal vehicles
Charging Current Guide – Which Amps for Your Battery
| Vehicle / Use | Battery Ah | Set Knob To |
|---|---|---|
| Small Cars (Alto, i10, WagonR) | 35–45 Ah | 4–6A |
| Sedans / SUVs (City, Creta, Brezza) | 60–80 Ah | 6–8A |
| Large SUVs (Fortuner, Thar, Scorpio) | 90–105 Ah | 10–12A |
| E-Rickshaw / Home Inverter Battery | 100–150 Ah | 12–15A |
| Trucks / Tractors / Buses / JCBs | 150–220+ Ah | 15–20A |
💡 Rule of thumb: Set amps = 10% of battery Ah. For 150Ah → 15A. For 200Ah → 20A. Reduce if battery gets warm.
Battery Charging Time Calculator
Connect clamps to battery terminals
Red (+) clamp to positive, Black (–) to negative. Works on tubular inverter, car, truck and SMF batteries.Set FCBC switch to BOOST mode
Flip the switch to Boost to start charging a discharged battery. Use Float only after battery is fully charged.Set charging amps with the variable knob
Turn knob to ~10% of battery Ah. 150Ah battery → set 15A. 100Ah → set 10A. Use the calculator above to estimate total charging time.Monitor the digital amp meter
The digital display shows live current. As the battery charges, amps will gradually drop toward zero — this is normal and expected.Switch to FLOAT when charging is complete
Near-zero reading means battery is full. Switch to FLOAT mode for safe automatic maintenance, or disconnect clamps.Troubleshooting – Common Battery Charging Problems
🔋 Inverter battery not charging at all
Set to Boost mode at 10–15A. The higher voltage pushes current into a deeply discharged battery. If the meter stays at 0A after 20 minutes on Boost, the battery has dead cells and needs replacement.
⚡ Battery getting very hot during charging
Reduce the knob by 3–5A immediately. Old or weak batteries may only tolerate 5–8A. Slightly warm is normal — hot to touch is not.
📈 Meter shows high amps but battery not charging
Check clamp connections first — loose connections cause false readings. Clean terminals with dry cloth. Ensure it’s a 12V battery. If using Float on a flat battery, switch to Boost mode first.
🔄 Battery drains again quickly after charging
Battery issue, not charger issue. Sulphation or a shorted cell reduces capacity. The charger may restore some capacity, but a battery older than 4–5 years likely needs replacement.
