What is This Inverter Battery Charger?

The SAMCO 12V 20A FCBC inverter battery charger is a heavy duty, workshop-grade SMPS charger designed specifically for Indian conditions. It is the most versatile 12V charger in its class — one unit that works as a tubular inverter battery charger, car battery charger, truck battery charger, tractor battery charger and e-rickshaw battery charger, all in one.

Unlike basic automatic chargers that lock you into a fixed current, this charger gives you full manual control via a 0–20A variable knob. The FCBC switch lets you choose between Boost mode (fast charging) and Float mode (battery maintenance). A digital amp meter shows live charging current so you always know exactly what’s happening.

Key benefits for Indian users:

  • Revives deeply discharged inverter batteries that automatic chargers reject
  • 20A output fast-charges large tubular batteries quickly
  • Float mode prevents overcharge during monsoon season and winter storage
  • Works on all Indian grid voltages (170V–270V AC input)
  • Trusted by battery shops, garages and mechanics across India

Boost & Float Mode – When to Use Which

🚀 BOOST – Fast Charge Mode

Delivers high voltage (peak ~15V) to fast-charge any discharged 12V battery. Switch here first.

  • Inverter battery went flat during power cut
  • Car battery dead — car won’t start
  • Truck battery drained after long parking
  • Battery deeply discharged below 10V

🛡 FLOAT – Battery Maintainer Mode

Maintains safe 13.6–14.5V — no overcharge. Use once battery is full.

  • Battery full — want to keep it topped up
  • Vehicle parked for 2+ weeks
  • Monsoon season — inverter on standby
  • Winter storage of seasonal vehicles

Charging Current Guide – Which Amps for Your Battery

Recommended knob settings for different battery sizes
Vehicle / UseBattery AhSet Knob To
Small Cars (Alto, i10, WagonR)35–45 Ah4–6A
Sedans / SUVs (City, Creta, Brezza)60–80 Ah6–8A
Large SUVs (Fortuner, Thar, Scorpio)90–105 Ah10–12A
E-Rickshaw / Home Inverter Battery100–150 Ah12–15A
Trucks / Tractors / Buses / JCBs150–220+ Ah15–20A

💡 Rule of thumb: Set amps = 10% of battery Ah. For 150Ah → 15A. For 200Ah → 20A. Reduce if battery gets warm.

Troubleshooting – Common Battery Charging Problems

🔋 Inverter battery not charging at all

Set to Boost mode at 10–15A. The higher voltage pushes current into a deeply discharged battery. If the meter stays at 0A after 20 minutes on Boost, the battery has dead cells and needs replacement.

⚡ Battery getting very hot during charging

Reduce the knob by 3–5A immediately. Old or weak batteries may only tolerate 5–8A. Slightly warm is normal — hot to touch is not.

📈 Meter shows high amps but battery not charging

Check clamp connections first — loose connections cause false readings. Clean terminals with dry cloth. Ensure it’s a 12V battery. If using Float on a flat battery, switch to Boost mode first.

🔄 Battery drains again quickly after charging

Battery issue, not charger issue. Sulphation or a shorted cell reduces capacity. The charger may restore some capacity, but a battery older than 4–5 years likely needs replacement.

Inverter Battery Charger – Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this as a car battery charger?
Yes. This SAMCO 12V 20A charger works as a car battery charger for all standard 12V lead-acid car batteries from 35Ah to 105Ah. Set the knob to 4–6A for small cars (Alto, i10, WagonR) or 6–8A for sedans and SUVs (Honda City, Creta, Brezza). Use Boost mode to charge. Unlike a basic automatic charger that locks into a fixed current, you get full manual control here.
How long does it take to charge a 150Ah inverter battery?
At 15A with 80% discharge, a 150Ah tubular inverter battery takes approximately 8–10 hours. The formula is: Time = (Ah × Discharge%) ÷ (Amps × 0.85). For 150Ah at 80% at 15A: (150×0.8)÷(15×0.85) = 9.4 hours. Use the Charging Time Calculator on this page to get an exact estimate for your battery and current setting.
What is the difference between Boost mode and Float mode?
Boost mode delivers higher voltage (up to ~15V) to fast-charge a discharged battery. Use it whenever your battery is low and needs charging. Float mode reduces to 13.6–14.5V once the battery is full — it maintains the charge without overcharging or damaging the battery. Float is ideal during monsoon, winter or whenever the battery is on standby for long periods.
My inverter battery is not charging — can this charger fix it?
Often yes. Deep discharged batteries fall below the voltage threshold that automatic chargers need to start. This FCBC charger’s Boost mode manually pushes higher voltage to overcome the battery’s internal resistance and restart charging. If the meter stays at 0A after 30 minutes on Boost at 10A, the battery likely has dead cells and needs replacement.
How many amps should I set for a 150Ah battery?
For a 150Ah battery, set 15A; for 100Ah use 10A; for 200Ah use 20A. Rule: amps = 10% of Ah. Reduce by 3–5A if the battery gets hot. Maximum is 20A on this charger.
What is the inverter battery charger price and how to buy online?
The SAMCO inverter battery charger price is ₹6,967 (GST inclusive). Buy directly from Samco Battery, Delhi by WhatsApp or call to 9953935912. UPI, bank transfer and COD accepted. Dealer pricing on bulk orders.
Which battery types does this charger support?
This charger supports all 12V lead-acid battery types used in India: Tubular Inverter batteries (tall and short tubular), Flat Plate batteries, SMF (Sealed Maintenance Free), Automotive (car, truck, tractor, bus), E-Rickshaw batteries, and Industrial batteries. Compatible with brands like Luminous, Exide, Amaron, Okaya, Livguard, V-Guard and all others. Battery capacity range: 35Ah to 220Ah and above.
